Counsellor Lu Haitian from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the UK also came to address the audience:

“Mandarin has become the third most popular second language for the British students to study after French and Spanish.  A number of UK schools have added Mandarin to their curriculum making it a popular subject for teenagers thanks to China’s growing importance on the world stage. Learning Mandarin is challenging but rewarding at the same time. It offers great career prospects for the students who study a second language.

I am sure the school will be a great success under the strong leadership of the Head of Orpington Chinese Language School. “

The Headteacher of Dundonald Primary School Ms Duffy and Vice President of the UK Association for the Promotion of Chinese Education Ms Huang also sent their congratulations to the opening of the Wimbledon Branch.
